Theater Program

Theater at MCPA is playful, imaginative and inclusive. Participants tell their own stories, act out favorite scenes and travel together through imagination journeys that stretch body, voice and memory.
Theater activities
- Dramatic play and improvisation
- Short scene work from plays, films and folk tales
- Poetry reading and group recitation
- Imagination journeys and guided story-making
- Voice and movement warm-ups
- Costume and prop exploration
- Seasonal community performances
Performance opportunities
Each season, participants prepare short pieces for performance at MCPA and, when possible, at community venues. Performances are optional – some participants love the stage, while others prefer rehearsal-only. Every contribution matters, and every voice is celebrated.
Theater is also a bridge. Participants who are quiet in group conversation often find their voice in character. Participants who speak a language other than English at home often lead scenes in their first language, inviting the group in.
